Of course, our paisanos will make resolutions to better themselves in the New Year.
Tradition dictates that every 365 days, we should try to kick bad habits and start our lives anew. Mind you, some resolutions are easy to do and some are harder to keep than others. Most of the time, we are biting off more than we can chew. We are already over-committed. Someone told me, "Can we make resolutions we can break?" Whatever it is, we should aim for things that are truly important to us, not what we think we ought to do or what others expect of us.
To help some of our favorite Boholanos to start 2011 refreshing, Bared came up with New Year's resolutions we're hoping will help them start 2011 on the right foot.
I resolve to keep Bohol a national treasure through unity and harmony
Like many people who will make a list of things that happened in the last 12 months as well as those they'd want to achieve in the next year, Gov. Edgar Chatto can spend New Year's eve looking back at 2010 with pride even as he plans greater things for Bohol and its constituents in 2011. And once again, and as always, we can have Gov. Chatto to thank for it.
I resolve to work doubly hard for the realization of Bohol's vision especially in the 1st district
His numerous accomplishments in making Bohol as one of the fastest growing provinces in the country were tested when he was in public office. Now that he is back serving the first district of Bohol, we can expect bigger things and bigger plans in 2011. Take a bow, Rep. Rene Relampagos!
I resolve to act more for the youth
He works hard for the Filipino youth. We hope Benjie can create more policies on scholarship programs for poor but deserving students, skills training, livelihood programs and job opportunities for out of school youth and youth with special needs but on a personal level. On the other hand, he needs, ehem, strict diet to lose weight. And how about a colorful love life this 2011?
I resolve to be sexier and healthier
2010 was a great year for Bohol's first lady. She had the best of her ups and the lowest of her lows. For 2011, she resolves to be grateful and happy not only for the ups in her life but more importantly the downs in her life for everything has its purpose and meaning and that is to make a better "her." Vanity wise, a better "her" is a slimmer, trimmer, sexier —no to fats, no to too much carbs and no to mugs of coffee. Likewise, she needs to drink more water than she used to and to shorten her waking hours, instead lengthen her sleeping hours- that is to be in bed before midnight for clearer, brighter, glowing skin. Does this mean—no to evening invitations and functions and Facebooking? "Happy New Year! Happy hoping for a sexier me in 2011!" she shares.
I resolve to milk my career upswing
Let's hope Mizken gets help picking projects that will really capitalize on his rediscovered fame this year. This 2011, he has to make Runway Icons huge and successful, to take good care more of his models and talents and to organize more events to entertain people. How about finding (again) true happiness this year?
I resolve to relax and travel
She has been busy entertaining tourists in her famous Riverwatch at Loboc River. This 2011, Tessie should feel herself becoming more relaxed. She may also consider travelling to places (how about US?) rather than always staying at home. She should be more health conscious (no more sweets, cola and fatty foods) as our Miss Bohol Sandugo runner-up should always stay beautiful inside and out.
I resolve to stay a healthy lifestyle
Where he has been hiding all these years? Well, Glenn finished his masters in Manila. He remains a partyphile yet his heart remains on Bohol. He is gaining weight so it's about time to hit the gym.
I resolve to be more grateful
It is not really new, but it is more of a personal reminder for Fiel and her family to be all the more trusting and grateful to God for all the blessings He has bestowed on them, especially in those times when they least expected it, and in return, share these blessings with others, in their own simple ways.
I resolve to be Bohol's hottest bachelor
2010 was a good year for his political career. "Keep it up," says a fan. Now's the time for the young heartthrob to explore Tagbilaran's shark-infested singles scene.
I resolve to grow mature
She portrayed Evita in a musical show. She amazed us on her Amazing Grace. Jesat wants to spend more time with her family. "For we don't know when our time on earth will end," she shares. She wants to be more focused and committed in all her responsibilities as a person.
I resolve to eliminate mañana habit
Our DepEd supervisor told Bared that he will not dilly dally a dreaded task. He can eliminate that mañana habit and not wait for the eleventh hour. "I hope I can with the blessings of our dear Lord," he says. Hasta mañana, viva forever….
I resolve to stay the way I am
Tracy's reputation as in-demand make-up artist and hairstylist made 2010 his busy year. He can continue to be good to everyone, generous and kind.
I resolve to dump nightlife
Hairstylist Ryan can minimize his spending habit on food and nightlife. He can spend more quality time with his family and to be a more considerate ate/mama to his brothers. Right mamita?
I resolve to make a New Year's resolution
This banker reveals she stopped making New Year's resolutions because she was not able to keep them. How about "changing status" this 2011?
I resolve not to take things seriously
The only lady in the city council is always visible to her constituents. We know she's a good girl doing her assignments seriously. This year, she doesn't need to sweat the small stuff because she has been hurt taking things and people too seriously.
I resolve to forgive and forget
She wants to start the year with reconciliation and forgiveness. "I want to let go of the past and forgive by heart." She also promised to be a good girl and be more concerned about the feelings of others than herself.
I resolve to make it down the aisle
Nice has a successful career. She has traveled to Asia to explore many things. However, she seems give little importance on her love life. How about making a vow to take a breather from men in 2011? We want to see her holding hands with someone special.
I resolve to be a poised princess
She seems like she's got it down, so let's hope the beauty queen will bring the status to the highest level.
I resolve to find a (new) boyfriend
She's already made the trip down there once, but let's hope she can find one who is madly in love with her.
We resolve not to keep it in our pants – and share it to all
More, more scoops this year! Chime now!
It's the end of the roaring tiger and here comes the jumping rabbit.
A lot of Bared readers are asking what's in store for 2011. Psychics and other paranormal experts might have different answers. As for me, there are many things to happen that we don't know, right? I am reminding horoscope die-hard followers and Bared readers to remember Doris Day who sung: Que sera sera (what will be, will be)...the future's not ours to see... que sera sera (what will be, will be).
"Horoscopes and astrology signs of the zodiac predictions aren't always accurate," says a Bared reader who asked for anonymity. "However, it doesn't stop millions of people from surfing online 24 hours a day for just one reason: to know what to expect tomorrow or check out what the coming year holds for them."
The same anonymous Bared reader who shared this information on the Year of the Rabbit he/she culled from the internet. Read on.
