Lila is a town on the southern coast of Bohol, twenty-eight and a half kilometers from Tagbilaran. It lies between Loay and Dimiao and for some time was a part of the latter municipality. There is no record to show the date of its establishment during the Spanish regime, but according to the account of the Augustinian mission in Bohol, it was a separate municipality in 1879, with a population of 4,023. When it was annexed to Dimiao, is not known because all records have been burned. However, it was on January 1, 1915 when it was separated from Dimiao and again made into an independent municipality.
During World War II, the Japanese caused untold sufferings to the people of the town. Many civilians were maltreated and tortured. It is said that some thirty-one civilians were killed by the Japanese.
Lila celebrate its town fiesta on the 7th of October in honor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.

I'm just wondering if the municipality Lila got its own website to open up some kind of constructive comments. I was born in these town, the place where once sleepy yet rich in its natural resources. In a span over three decades, I was so delighted to observed some improvements such as the construction of the new modern looking municipality building, the improved grandstand, the clean air that the Lilanians are now breathing thanks to the concreting of the national road unlike before we are breathing and eating dust 24/7, and the construction of street lighting etc. But behind all this is the bare facts of the massive destruction of our shoreline formation, the pearly white sand is no longer exist the marine ecosystem is now imbalance and in the state of disharmony. We need to restore and conserve the ecosystem...... Restoring ecosystem, we must establish the finer balance between organism and environment could be at least effective way a responsible human can do. Until and unless, the steps to preserve the decaying charm of our ecosystem are not initiated, our ecosystem is not going to support us having a better and healthy environment. |
