President Carlos P. Garcia, formerly called Pitogo, is an island-municipality in the North-East of Bohol.

In the early part of the 19th century, the island was only indicated on maps as Lapinig Grande with six regular barrios: Pitogo, Aguining, Basiao, Bonbonon, Gaus and Tugas as part of Ubay town.

Late Cong. Teodoro Galagar of the 3rd Congressional District of the province of Bohol, initiated the convertion of Lapining Grande into a town. Aguining, Pitogo and Bonbonon were the barangays in the running for township. Pitogo won the race, as it has a safe port and was closer to Ubay and Cebu.

On June 21, 1969, RA 5864 was approved creating Pitogo as the 46th town of the province of Bohol with 23 regular barangays. Eight years later, on November 4, 1977, its name was changed to Pres. P. Garcia by virtue of Presidential Decree 2828.

Sorry Roldan, I dont have an idea on the estimated cost when that said electricity project will be pursued. I think Glen Alan Boyles has an idea because he's working in LGU. I think you ask the officials(if you knw one), to inquire this thing. I think the LGU had contact to BOHECO representative and with that they can ask that question of yours to them.

@ Bartdais and Glenn Alan, belated Happy Fiesta to Lapinig and also congratulations to our newly elected LGU Officials! We are behind you in continuing and exploring programs envisioned for our town's further growth, development and sustainability. By the way, regarding the power supply shortage in barangay Gaus,do you have any idea Guys(or any friends in BOHECO), how much is the cost(BALL PARK FIGURE) in installing and commissioning submersible power supply cable from the Town to Gaus? Estimated distance from both ends is about 6 kilometres. Is It safe to assume at Php 1million per kilometre cost? If yes, then the project should cost at around Php 6 Million.

To the one making this site: Is their a way to make this one friendly and easy to use? This is my second time putting comment on this site by I still need to go back to my email account and press that link to put me on this site again????. Also, is there a way that you can notify us if someone make a comment or post so that everybody (the ones commenting) will be aware of it? For example, Stephen Loveless asked for information about our town(where to go,what to ride, etc) and if he won't be notified when Alan Boyles answered, I guess he will not know it unless he will go this site again. To Glen Alan Boyles, I salute you sir for being so dedicated on serving our people. I know you had a good intent to help improving our municipality. Hope some other officials have the same good intent in serving the public as yours. You may never know how people from our barangay or from other barangays appreciate your works because we never had a chance to give you a recognition or never say it to you directly but we do admire you for being unselfish and willing to help others. Thanks so much for that.

To make the records straight, PD 2828 was signed by FM on October 27, 1977 and was officially announced and took effect on Nov. 4, 1977 to coincide with the bday of PCPG. Thank you Mr. Philip Maglana for the correction. To Stephen Loveless, the island town of President Carlos P. Garcia can be visit via various routes. a. Via Looc Mandaue direct to CPG everyday (8am)@ Looc Port(under the old Mandaue-Lapulapu bridge) travel time is 3.5 hours; b. Via Ubay port, Poblacion, Ubay, Bohol everyday trip starting 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am. travel time is approximately one hour. c. Via Tapal Wharf, Ubay, Bohol (24/7) travel time is 5 minutes.

I really appreciate our people still remembering the homeland of rich natural resources. We here in the Local Government, like you, are dreaming that one day we could rise up on this island flowing with milk and honey. That day our people will no longer wish to leave but in stead enjoy the serenity, friendship and freshness of our place. This place we call "ours" will soon be a place we can be proud of. Please join our hands in making this place productive and globally competitive using our very own resources. We have lots of potentials waiting to be tapped and steered to develop.
