As I went to Bohol I saw that Alona is such a wonderful place for vacation. I can say that if you want peace of mind and a perfect relaxation, Alona is the best place for you. It is more beatiful than a noisy and crowded Boracay and it has kind and hospitable people that are willing to help and guide you there. I love Alona so much! I had memorable moments there and it is where I met the love of my life that I faithfully adore.

nice beach, but one thing regarding the boats they should be quayed or anchored at a designated area such that they will not be of great disturbance to the swimming area for the public. To some masahestas please beware of theme cause they will be asking after the service is done not to the pre-agreed price.

Alona Kew is really nice. Actually the beach in Bohol is not really nice. So it is better if you're gonna stay in a resort that has also a swimming pool. I was there 3 years ago with my usband and parents in law. They really love it there. We're actually planning to go back again.

I just came from Panglao, 2 weeks ago. I stayed at ALONA CITADEL. about 5 minute walk from the beach, the rooms are very clean and the staff are very friendly. only downside is the shared Bathrooms. Very Clean Bathrooms though. the price I paid was P.640/night dbl occupancy. you can get a cheaper room for P.100 less, for a Fan room, rather than Air conditioned room, but at this time of the year... I can do w/out a/c.

I'm currently staying at Alona Beach and can recommend Peter's House, which is less than $10 per night and very nice. Share bathroom though (albeit very clean). If you prefer a private bathroom, try Hayahay which is affiliated to Peter's House, but a more upmarket option. Both are run my Genesis Divers, an excellent dive operation if you're into that, who offer discounts to divers. Check the Genesis website at http://www.genesisdivers.com/ for accommodation pices, prices and options. Hope this helps, Carrie.

Alona Beach is a nice place. Its very lively on Saturday nights, lesser on Sunday evenings. Sleepy on weekdays. Food is plentiful in the evenings. There is not much choice during breakfast only 3 or 4 restaurants are open, and they're not cheap. There is a lot of choice for accommodation from expensive to low cost. Bathroom water is slightly less salty than seawater in all. White sand on the beach is abundant. Stray dogs are plentiful too.

There are too many boats on the water facing the beach.I think it is better if the boat owners park their boats on a cluster farther off the beach. Its an eyesore. I did not see any jet ski, sailing catamaran, banana boat and other water toys. Dive boats and dive shops are plentiful.

I stayed at Crystal Coast and unless there has been a 10,000 percent improvement this place is on it's last legs. No hot water, when there was water. A/C was not working in half the rooms as I changed rooms four (4) times before geting a room with working A/C. Pool had low tide (not enough water in it) Restaurant was always short on food. Did not have food on hand always going shopping. Rooms were dirty not well kept up. Over charged my credit card, I would not stay here again.

Sad this place goes downhill. I looked here two years ago, and wasn't much impressed myself; the location is great, but the design of the buildings lacks atmosphere. I've heard rumours the place has been sold to a new owner, and hope he will be able to improve it. A well-designed and well-run resort on this spot could earn a fortune.--Jeroen.

How far is Crystal Coast in Panglao from the pier? Would you know of an inexpensive local tour guide who can give us a daytour of the various destinations?

Crystal Coast is about 25 minutes by car from the pier in Tagbilaran. Ask around on Alona Beach for tour guides. Maybe some of the hotels have cheaper options than the booking office in the middle of the beach.--Jeroen

Hi all, I'll be going to PI, ariving Jan 1. My pinoy friend/travel agent is recommending Alona Kew resort. Any thoughts and info would be appreciated. I am trying to make up my mind between this and a resort in Boracay. Have been to Boracay. BTW this is a great site. Thanks, Steve

Hi, I am wanting to visit the Philippines and Bohol at the end of May/early June 2006. Is the weather ok in Bohol and the Philippines at this time of year, I want to go diving as well, is this a good time of year to visit? I see it is rainy season in June? is their increased risk of Mosquito Diseases at this time? Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Re-discover the Philippines, go to Bohol! Lovely place, so much nature to offer, untouch, genuinely beautiful. If you happen to be in the island, never miss the beaches in Bohol, or you will regret it. I live in Bohol and in different cities in the Philippines, and to me, Bohol is still the best place to live in the Philippines..

I miss the time when Alona beach was so lively before the Abu Sayaff kidnappings. And the sea front was so clean. I hope you'll bring it back. Alona Palm Beach is so lovely but Alona Tropical has the best spot and one of the best resorts along the whole stretch. See you soon there.

Alona Beach was never affected by kidnappings, but the happenings in Palawan did reduce the number of visitors drastically. Back in 2001, it was really quiet. Since then, things have improved considerably. The beach now is lively again, and kept clean.--Jeroen.

You will have a hard time avoiding the people from the Alona Beach hotels and resorts when you arrive, but you may wish to travel to Alona Beach on yourself to get a better deal. Taxis are easily available, and if they aren't, you can call one (numbers on this site)--Jeroen.

Thank you Julyanne for your information. I have four persons to Cebu in end may 2004. Is the Alona Beach is opened for public? Can we have snorkeling in Alona Beach? Is there any reef? Any other attraction recommendation? Thank you very much My E-mail: chiuscw@mcl.dch.com.hk

Alona Beach can easily be reached from a public road. In fact, all beaches, up to 30 metres from the high high-water line are government property, but often the only road to a beach is through somebodies property, who has the right to deny passage, or ask money for it. Your only option then is to use a boat, but even then you might be harassed on a 'private' beach.

The snorkeling at Alona Beach is great. Just swim out about 100 metres to reach the edge of the reef, at about 3 to 5 metres deep, then going down almost straight to over 40 metres. Many of the diveshops have snorkeling equipment for rent, but if you have it, bring your own.--Jeroen.

She's so enthusiastic about visiting God's Little Paradise. I'm glad I have your website. Thanks for updating it regularly and making it interesting! By the way, if you stay a little longer in Bohol, try to see some beaches in Anda like Dapdap beach, Basdacu beach, and others. You may also visit this very nice lake called "Na-kawa" (I'm not sure of the spelling). It's somewhere between Guindulman and Alicia, I think. My brother who's been there said that I would love it. I have been to practically all dive sites in the Philippines, including all in Bohol, and the best that I can recommend to all divers of the world is Cabilao Island. That's between Cebu and mainland Bohol, particularly Loon town. Gee, you should see the pygmy seahorse, seen only in Indonesia before and its's here in the Philippines off Cabilao! There are at least three dive centers (Polaris, Sea Explorers and another one near Cambaquiz Point). The beach is also ok, with the white sand moving from one side of the island to the other depending on wave motion. And, surprise!... nearby is a lake about 20 hectares. A lake on a small island with migrating birds to boot! On the other side of the island is a navigational channel yet has a marine sanctuary where diving is allowed near its border. You should go there!!! I have been there about ten times already! And I will be coming back next summer!

Hello... we are set to go to Bohol next month and plan to visit alona palm for sightseeing. How much is the entrance fee? Thanks.

If you mean Alona Palm Beach Resort, that is on Alona Beach, which is freely accessible as it is government property (like all beaches up to 30 meters from the high-water line in the Philippines). I haven't seen a sign asking a fee to enter the premisses of Alona Palm Beach itself, and there is no fence on the beach side, but use of the pool is limited to guests only, as with most other pools, and you cannot have a picnic on their grass, but that is understandable. If you just want to check out the place, there is no problem here. It was well kept and nice when we visited Alona Beach September 2002.--Jeroen.

And we really have a lot of beautiful beaches in Panglao and somewhere in the eastern part of Bohol. You have a very nice website. Globally competitive. Keep up the good work!

Diving spots are very interesting (Balicasag), even for beginners, and all the people on the island are really friendly. When you go in the villages, everybody says Hello to you, an I really enjoyed discovering and discussing with everybody. However, it's true that night life is not so developed, but you can find good bars on Alona beach. The problem is that there are much more German guys than Filipinas and Filipinos. Hope to come again soon on this wonderful island!

Bohol Beach Club is a little before Alona Beach, and I haven't entered the premisses yet. You can also go a little further to Alona Beach, and check out any of the other resorts over there, in every price class. Have a look at the businesses page to see links to resort's webpages. -- Jeroen.

I was in Tagbilaran, Bohol from May 24 - June 11. I am half Filipino and Irish and it was my second visit and I absolutley love Bohol. The beaches are beautiful and the people are so friendly. My mother was born in Calape and was raised in Tagbilaran, though our visit was because my lola passed away, I still enjoyed myself. I plan on visiting again within 2 years... Bohol is a beautiful vacation spot!

Alona Beach is one of the prettiest beaches I have ever been. It was more than a paradise to me, I like it better in any other beaches in the Philippines. It was so relaxing and the corals are so fantastic, and I guess its really safe for everyone to visit the place. I together with me partner was there last December and we stayed there for almost a month. We supposed to go to some place aside from Alona, but I decided to stay coz I was so amazed with the beauty of the place and the white sand was so good, it was peaceful and the people are so friendly that you can't find anywhere else. I am a Filipino and I never experienced that kind of hospitality in my place here in Manila. It's one of a kind!!!

Wow! How beautiful is the place and I'm also expecting that the worker are also good like the sorrounding. Keep up the beautiful spot that we have in Bohol. Nice.

We are doing our best to show people the beauty of Bohol, and hope it will encourage people to take pride in maintaining the island. We can assure you that the people working on the resorts on Alona beach are friendly, and maintain a relaxed atmosphere, without making service slow -- Jeroen.

Hi! I was so amazed by the beauty of Bohol. I never thought it is that beautiful! Because many people always go to common resorts but not until now that I browse the web site of Bohol did I know how wonderful it is. I am planning to visit Bohol sometime Dec. or early Jan. next year and I do hope you can give me advices where to stay and places to visit with reasonable charges and how to arrange for a booking. Though it will be 6 months from now I just cant wait to see it in person. Would you mind to send me information regarding these things through my e-mail address? I would be very garteful for that. Thanks and hope to hear from you the soonest...

excited, smile
